The incredible moment a blue whale appears to blow rainbow heart

Mother Nature has frequently managed to surprise us in the most spectacular and dramatic ways, and its fascinating moments are far from over. While a close encounter with a giant blue whale is already a sight too behold, one extremely lucky wildlife photographer got even more.

For the 36-year-old marine photographer, Tanakit Suwanyangyaun it was a dream come true when he finally got the chance to take some snaps of the largest mammal that ever lived on our planet – the blue whale. Tanakit has traveled from Sri Lanka to Maldives, when the majestic creature got close enough to his boat. Initially, Tanakit took some underwater pictures of the massive mammal, but then it got out of water to blow. That’s when the photographer was left open-mouthed.

“We wanted to explore the area to search for blue whales who are the largest living thing on our planet,” the Bangkok-based photographer told Caters. “I only ever wanted to see them underwater and did not expect to be so close to them.”

And the moment was surreal. The way the water splashes and the light creates an optical illusion. It appears the massive creature is actually blowing a rainbow heart.

“The size is beyond my wildest imagination and this shot was so lucky as it captured the breath that looked like a rainbow,” the photographer said. “Sometimes you need to be patient and wait for nature to surprise you. I’m proud to be able to capture unique moments like this and share it with the world.”
